Zilla's Donuts is a small, approachable bakery and donut shop tucked into one of Abbotsford’s older residential blocks on Maple Street. It’s the kind of neighborhood spot that locals might stumble upon during a leisurely afternoon walk, especially on a sunny day when the slow pace of the streets invites a pause.

The shop itself is modest but inviting, with a handful of outdoor chairs that catch some of the afternoon sun—perfect for a quick break with a fresh pastry. Inside, the atmosphere tends to be calm and unhurried, a contrast to busier downtown corners, making it a nice place to pop in for a casual treat without feeling rushed.

Visitors will find a focused selection of donuts, which seems to appeal to those who appreciate quality over quantity. The variety isn’t overwhelming, but it hits key bases like filled favorites, including cream and fruit options, and some classic staples. Those who come looking for unique or specialty flavors will notice offerings like banana split, boston cream, and seasonal fruit fillings, with some donuts like fritters or “homer” styles selling out early in the day.

Aside from donuts, Zilla’s also serves coffee, including drip and specialty styles such as lattes and caramel macchiatos. The coffee is prepared with care, often tailored per request, and pairs well with the pastries to round out a simple but satisfying snack or light breakfast.

The staff tends to be friendly and genuinely welcoming, adding to the relaxed and approachable vibe of the place. It’s not uncommon to find the shop quiet during off-peak times, which suits visitors looking for a peaceful spot to enjoy their treats.

Best for:

  • Locals craving a dependable, freshly made donut with a good coffee on hand
  • People who appreciate a quiet, neighborhood bakery experience rather than a bustling cafe
  • Visitors who don’t need a huge menu and prefer straightforward, quality pastries

Who will enjoy it most: Those out for a casual afternoon snack or a light sweet breakfast, especially people who live nearby or wander through the older parts of Abbotsford looking for relaxed spots with character.

Best time to visit: Mid-mornings to early afternoons during weekdays or weekends before popular items like fritters sell out; an early visit is recommended for specialty donuts that go fast.

Atmosphere to expect: Calm, inviting, and unpretentious with attentive, friendly service—a local pit stop more than a busy hangout spot.

A few days ago I discovered this unknown bakery / donut shop. On Friday July 28th I did visit the shop about 1pmish. Its actually an enjoyable walk thru some of Abbotsford older residences. The shop looks great and is inviting along with a few chairs outside. The staff which was a single person, she was very kind and friendly over all. Service with a sincere smile! Unfortunately not much of a selection existed for me to try with only 2 kinds present a Maple walnut and a Chocolate sieseme snap ( I think it was called). I ordered a maple walnut but she offered me a great deal on a second one to try both flavors as such I agreed. Remember to take a few napkins when you buy these treats. The flavor on these treats was great and highly enjoyable,. The dough however is a baked style and more to that of a bagel ( I enjoy bagels but this is not what I expected). I am going to give the place 4 stars. With the hopes that during my next visit I will have a greater selection to choose from.

June 12, Thursday, I was craving for some local donuts with fillings. Fortunately, Zilla’s Donuts is just 1.6km away from me. Reviews are great too so why not try. It’s my first time here. My husband and I ordered 4 kinds: banana split, boston cream, blueberry filled donut, and the lemon something flavored donut. Not much of a selection which is a good thing, easy pick. WOW! Amazing quality! Soft & fresh donuts fillings are generally not super sweet , only if there’s confectioners glaze on top which I will remove next time. the donut price is right though they have a fixed tipping system. ambiance is nice & quiet. Most importantly, friendly staff! ???? There’s 4 parking spots

I wanted to go to Zilla's Donuts for a while to try some real pastries. When I got there, the establishment was pretty calm and quiet coming in. They have specialty coffees, such as lattes and caramel macchiatos. When I ordered their Drip Coffee, the staff member prepared it fresh and upon request with the option of cream and/or sugar. The coffee was near perfection in taste. I also ordered the following pastries; Red Velvet Cake, Nutella Doughnut, Sugar Stuffed Heart Cookie and the Chai Latte Doughnut. The red velvet cake is very delicious with fondant being incredibly flavorful. The cookie was okay if not a little hard with the cream filling being pretty good. The Nutella doughnut tasted great while the Chai Latte Doughnut had good subtle flavours and not being too overly sweet. I enjoyed their doughnuts so much that I bought some of the ones I have yet to try to go. The young woman working at Zilla's was very nice and professional with her work. I hope to come back to this place again soon and try more different Doughnut creations. Zilla's Donuts will be turning into a new business called Fritters & Friends in August 6th.

This is a cute little donut shop in the downtown Abbotsford area. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and a great little seating area. They had lots of donut options and were helpful in their suggestions as to what to get. If you want the fritters or the homer donut, you'll have to go early, as they sell out earlier (I didn't make it in time but I look forward to going earlier one day and trying them!)

Decided to stop by and try after randomly coming across the donut shop on google maps! Saw the pictures and flavours and they looked great. Tried a few of the flavours and was about 50/50 on enjoyment. The strawberry rhubarb jelly donut was by far the best in the box. Will certainly them again to see if some other flavours are better!

Finally tried Zilla's donuts for the first time. So good! They are huge and so soft! Service was quick and efficient and staff were very friendly. Parking is only 4 spots in the lot but there is street parking. Clear signs that guide you to the shop. It's a little pricey if I'm honest but I think you pay for the quality and size. Highly recommend and will return!

These doughnuts are so good! Picked up a Boston cream and a strawberry rhubarb this morning, and both were fresh, plump, soft, and full of flavour. Each bite was purely delightful. It's a corner location with only a couple parking spots in front - including handicapped - but ample street parking directly in the area. Close to downtown Abbotsford and hwy 11 (Mission- Abbotsford Hwy).
